Starting Tuesday, April 6th, AHA will be offering a four consecutive week 4v4 hybrid development camp. The camp will skate twice a week on Tuesday & Thursday evenings with all practices held at Dempsey Anderson Ice Rink.
The hybrid development camp is not like your typical spring league with all the normal rules & structure of ice hockey. In our views, spring hockey can be a great transition sport from the current winter hockey season into a player’s summer activities. But, spring hockey should look nothing like normal hockey that we played over the past 6-7 months with all the rules & structure. Kids need the opportunity to unplug and be allowed to play the game more organically. Hybrid hockey which is played on a half-ice sheet with 3 or 4 players a side with a goalie creates an environment where kids need to learn to play off each other. Hybrid is fast... one face-off to start and then it’s back & forth action for the entire hour! A goal is scored and the puck is pulled out and the play continues. Players get an 1 minute shift then the horn will blow with the next players jumping right in the play... the beauty of hybrid is rosters are designed small! So players will play every other shift! This helps to promote the fast pace and keeps everyone engaged throughout the contest!
