The Little Dipper 8U Mite Program is AHA’s development program that is modeled after the American Development Model (ADM), which allows kids  8 years and under the opportunity to progress at their own pace and play with kids of their own skill level. It’s about the kids, it’s about puck touches and it’s about creating a passion for the game!

Below describes all AHA’s Little Dipper Program levels and guidelines for ages 4 – 8 yrs. old. Kids progress at different rates and our Little Dipper Program is set up to allow kids to advance upon skill level and is not just based on age. The Little Dipper 8U  Developmental Program is for both boys and girls 8 years and under and our primary rinks are conveniently located in midtown Anchorage (Ben Boeke and Dempsey Anderson Ice Arenas.

Little Dippers Program Levels

Little Dippers Program consists of Learn To Skate, Learn To Play, 6U-Blue, 8U-White and 8U-Red and is modeled after USA Hockey's Red White and Blue Model.

Learn to Skate (LTS) Division

Is a twice a week program (Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons) introduces skating and hockey fundamentals for 4-year-olds and up. The season starts early October and ends with the Jamboree in late February.  Fee includes ice time, jersey, socks, and medal

Our “LTS” is designed to provide a fun enjoyable experience where your child will learn the fundamentals of basic hockey skating. This program is not only for kids new to hockey, but kids needing a little more work on their basic skating skills. We recommend that children be at least 4 years old to participate in our LTS program. From our coaching staff's experience, we feel a child who is at least 4 years of age is ready to grasp basic skating fundamental and has the ability to be in a group environment. We also understand there is always an exception to the rule and we have had many children under 4 years of age participate in our LTS. This is a case by case basis and you'll need to contact Barrett to discuss your child's situation. Our goal is simple: We want your child to have fun…. At this level, it’s just as important to develop their passion for the game as their fundamental skills.
