Ray Blackadar

Ray has over 20 years of experience coaching competitive youth hockey in Anchorage. The last 6 years he has coached competitive girls hockey for the Anchorage Northstars, competing in the District Championship game three of those seasons and qualifying for Nationals twice.

Ray has also coached for the Alaska Allstars, Boys and Girls Club Bulldogs, was on the coaching staff for Alaska Hockey Tech, Alaska Selects summer travel team and coached and coordinated the AHA Goaltending Clinic for 3 seasons.

His goal for a 19U team this season is to create a safe and competitive environment for his players while allowing them to compete in additional sports and extracurricular activities. Players can expect to skate 3-4 times on average over the course of a season, travel Outside 1-2 times during the regular season and play in 3 tournaments locally.

For players looking to continue their competitive hockey career at the collegiate level, Ray will work with Girls Coordinator Cassi Campbell as they continue to build relationships between college coaches and athletes.

“My hope is to have a program where players will develop the maturity and desire to take a measure of ownership toward their development and work together with the coaching staff to formulate a plan to achieve their individual and team goals.”
